Creative Team Article on Chipboard for Scrapbooking Memories - Vol. 17 No. 1

Hello everyone

Today I have a few layouts to share that were part of my Scrapbooking Memories Creative Team article that featured in Vol. 17 No. 1.  This issue's theme was "Home Grown" and from this I came up with the idea to do my article on Chipboard.  Australia is very lucky to have a few Home Grown chipboard company's....but for the layouts in my article, I've used 2Crafty chipboard  :D .....as I always do on all of my layouts - love my 2Crafty! :))))

My article delved into a few of my favourite ways of altering chipboard.....including ways of adding texture, heat embossing, using crackle paint, embossing folders, different ways of adding colour and I also wrote about things like, not being afraid to cut your chipboard to fit and suit your project ...and also to experiment and have fun with other ways of altering this staple embellishment.

Here are the layouts I created using chipboard for the article

"Destination Unknown"

There's quite a few different chipboard pieces on this one, using a few basic techniques on altering/colouring them.....all 2Crafty, of course :D

The Summer Leaf Stem I have left raw....with just a smidgen of gesso & a light rub of ink added....which tones in with the rest of the colours on the layout

This gorgeous Tahnya's 11" Border scroll was first coated in gesso, then coloured with gelatos, and a touch more gesso & ink added to finish it off.

Again with the Chevron Bits....coloured with gelatos then a light rub with some brown ink.
If you don't happen to have Gelatos...any form of coloured medium would work just as well for colouring your pieces....paint, ink etc.

And the Butterflies too...with some rhinestones added to the bodies

And here is a veiw of the main area of the page.
So the techniques on this layout are fairly simply....just some added colour, ink & gesso, yet the result is quite a transformation.

"Always & Forever"

This page I've used some more 2Crafty pieces....a title & a circular frame that surrounds the whole layout.  I've used some different techniques with these pieces as well.....

For the "Always & Forever" title I've first cut it in half & spread the title over 2 areas on the page, and I've then used some crackle paint to add colour & texture.  For the best result with crackle pain, you need to pile it on there....literally, then leave it to dry & you will end up with a nicely crackled/distressed looking piece of CB (I find it best to let it dry naturally, rather than with a heat gun - the crackles just seem to form much better this way plus you tend to get more of them)

The rest of the title in crackle paint.

For the Flowery Swirly Frame piece, I've added some texture paste.....

I've just added it to the frame with a brush.....dabbing it on, making sure to get good coverage with lots of high & low points to make the texture as visual as possible.

Then I've finished it off by colouring it with my gelatos....again, painting it on with a brush.
Any form of coloured medium would work just as well though....one of my other favourite is to paint on some glimmermist :)

So that's was my article on chipboard.
I hope you have been inspired to use what I think is a staple embellishment to have in
any scrappers stash!

October Afternoon - Public Library for All About Scrapbooks / Sketchabilities Sketch #123

A big Hello to everyone & welcome :)

Today I have a layout to share for All About Scrapbooks, using the super fun & amazing
I have been really surprised & happy with the range of layouts I've been able to create with this collection...and it's been so much fun too :)

My layout is based on sketch # 123 at Sketchabilities.

"Girls gone wild"

My photo is from 1986....my crazy GF's who had taken control of my camera at a party...you can imagine my surpise when I had the photos printed off the film (yep, pre-digital in those days!) and seen what they had been up to! LOL
They obviously had themselves a good time :)))

Here is the sketch, created by Karan Gerber

And a few close ups.....

Her little face says it all <3

Kaisercraft DT - Teddy Bears Picnic

Hello again everyone, and happy Friday....the weekend is almost here - yay!

I am back today to share my creations using Kaisercraft's 3rd release for
this month -Teddy Bears Picnic....and I have to say it is a "beary" cute one!

As always, the collection comes with a variety of papers, collectables, stickers, paper pad & a stamp set.  Most of the papers have one side that is not bear related & could be used for any type of layout...... I have created 2 layouts, 1 that is Teddy Bear related & 1 that's not.

First up....

"Teddy Love"

I've used the gorgeous "Furry" paper for my background...just love the colours & design of this paper ..... & the white dots have a fairly light text on them, which looks great.

I have cut a rosette flower using a strip of paper from the "Parade" paper & added a paper bloom, punched butterflies & some collectables pieces to form my cluster :)

The collectables pack has quite a few super cute teddy bears in it, plus there's also a few words, such as the words Teddy & Love that I've used for my title.

The cute little banner stickers are from the sticker sheet....and I've attached them in under a few strips of PP.

The photo is one of my little bear collection <3

Kaisercraft products: Bear Love P1629, Furry P1623, Bear Hug P1622, Parade P1627, Collection P1625, Cuddles P1626, Patchwork P1624,Paper Pad PP949, Sticker Sheet SS256 Collectables CT806, Buttercream Paper Blooms F629, Bronze Rhinestones SB776, Bark Ink IP724, Double Sided Tape T314, Foat Dots T302

Other: Butterfly, Rosette & Border punches

Next up is a non teddy bear layout :)

"Cherish the little moments"

The patchwork looking floral squares are cut from the gorgeous "Cuddles" paper & then mounted onto slightly bigger squares cut from the "patch work" paper.  This is such a pretty patterned paper & I wanted to try to showcase it a bit differently.....against the burgundy colour of the "Teddy" paper, it makes them really stand out, which is what I was aiming to achieve :)

Another cluster of blooms, stickers, collectables....and a Flair button

The hearts are from both the Collectables pack & Sticker sheet....and I've mounted them up on some KC foam dots to add a bit of height to them.

More stickers & Collectables....plus some strip journaling :)

Other: Flair Button, Brown Distress Ink

Next up is a couple of cute little gift bags....perfect for both male or female

I've simply added some of the cute bears & the trolley from the Collectables pack, and more heart stickers onto a few layers of paper.  This is such a quick & easy idea to turn a plain gift bag into something a little more personal :)

with a few strips of paper at the top, with a bunch of collectables pieces pinned to the bag with a brad.

I also added a bit of a textured background using modelling paste & Kaisercraft stencil - Quarters

Another bag with basically the same layout as the previous one, just using
different collectables pieces

Kaisercraft DT - Yuletide

Hi again fellow scrappers

As promised, I am back again to share some more of my Kaisercraft DT work for September.
This time using the gorgeous "Yuletide" Christmas collection.

I really love the colours & patterns in this colletion and it would have to be one of my fav Christmas collections :)  It has a bit of a vintage feel to it with traditional Christmas colours & patterns....and if you remember my Kaisercraft finalist post from back in June..., you might remember that this is one of the collections that I got to play with back then too <3

First up is a layout

"Cheeky Santa"

I've used a variety of papers in red, green & gold, and embellished with pieces from the fab Collectables pack & sticker sheet.

I've also embellished using a few of my Die's, both the leaves.... & the flower that is sitting under the Red KC Paper Bloom - all cut from papers in this collection.

Here is another shot from a different angle.

Some layered up collectables, stickers & scrap pieces of pp...... and some
green alpha stickers for the title.

Another diecut flower using the "Garland" paper that has a gorgeous news print on it.

More stickers & Collectables - there are soooo many pieces in each of these, which makes them such great value & there's always something to suit just about everyone,
no matter what your style of scrapping is :)

Pics are of my hubby wearing a santa hat & being rather cheeky!

Other: Flower Die, Leaf Dies, Buttons

"Believe in the Magic of Christmas"

For this layout I've cut out a few of the squares on the Miracle paper & arranged them in a patchwork effect across the page.... and I have added a bit of stamping to the background using the Numbers stamp with KC white ink.

I've used some paper blooms, stickers & collectables pieces to create a cluster...I just
love these pieces!

And more stickers, collectables & strip pieces of pp

Pic is of one of our fav santa decorations that comes out each year to decorate our home :)

Other: Red Flower, Stiching Stamp

Next I have decorated a few plain white candles...very quick & easy & is a great idea for some cheap christmas decorating for the home.

 "Christmas Candles"

Just a few strips of paper - some with punched edges & others left plain....with some added collectables & some twine....very quick & easy :)

Kaisercraft Products: Nutcracker P1613, Goodwill P1618, Nativity P1615, Paper Pad PP948, Collectables CT805, Sticker Sheet SS255, White Cardstock CD601, Double Sided Tape T314
Other:  Candles, Twine, Doily Die

And lastly....a couple of Christmas cards...

Both are fairly basic, simple cards, yet still look quite unique.
These type of cards are very achievable for any skill level of paper crafter.

The first one is just a few layers of patterned paper, with a diecut .... finished off with some twine tied in a bow & one of the Yuletide clear stamps stamped on the top plain piece of paper.

The 2nd one is using more squares cut from the Miracle paper, with a collectables diecut in the centre, and again, one of the Yuletide clear stamps at the bottom with Kaisercraft white ink.
